Mercy is a dance video inspired by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Choreographed by David Dawson for Stattsballett Berlin in 2021 to the music of Max Richter (Voices) and danced by world reknown principal dancers Polina Semionova and Alejandro Virelles.
Performed with a beautiful, intimate energy and surrounded by the sumptuous minimal architecture of the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin designed by Mies van der Rohe, quietly reminding us what really matters to humanity are the core principals of human rights and freedom.
Its only when humanity and compassion are forgotten the war can exist. The best we can do as artists is to stand by and share these values.
A portrait of the ultimate spectrum of emotions that war brings [from pain, fear, anxiety, anger, grief and uncertainty to strength, camaraderie, sense of purpose and pride]. “Alongside” is a short dance film manifesting that the connection between people is what really matters. Humanity is what makes us human.
